The Path
Companionship for the contemplative journey.
Recognizing the flowering of the spiritual life, from its first budding to its continual unfolding.
About the Series
This series is not an academic study of spirituality, nor a journey into collecting more knowledge or beliefs.
It is an invitation into the living relationship you already have with what has been called Presence, God, truth, the Self, or the divine life.
Many of us arrive here carrying questions we don’t quite know how to ask.
Sometimes we arrive after our world falls apart.
Sometimes after achieving everything we thought would make us happy, only to discover something essential is still missing.
Sometimes with the realization that there has to be more to life than this.
What at first might appear as interruption, blockage, or challenge on the spiritual path, the contemplative traditions have long understood as an invitation into purification and clearing.
Seen within this larger context, these places of struggle become places of deepening. It is not that life has gone wrong, but that we are being called into a different way of seeing and living.
This series offers companionship and orientation to that unfolding - not by providing final answers, but by helping illuminate what may already be taking place within you.
“I’m longing for a home I don’t even know is real or exists, but I’m longing for it. And no amount of the false will quench that thirst.”
— James
You May Find Yourself Here If…
You find yourself longing for something you cannot quite name.
You sense that the way you’ve been living doesn’t work anymore, even if your life appears successful by outward measures.
Moments of silence, beauty, loss, or love have opened questions that ordinary explanations cannot satisfy.
You have the sense that something in you is changing, but you can’t quite make sense of it yet.
Our Approach
Living Presence welcomes people from every spiritual background—or none at all.
We gather around a shared willingness to listen deeply. The wisdom traditions become companions—not because they ask us to adopt their language, but because each points toward a Reality that can only be known directly.
At the heart of our approach are three essential aspects of the contemplative life as we have come to know and practice it:
Resting in Presence
Practicing Presence throughout daily life
And a continual willingness to let go of what obscures Reality
If you’re new to our teaching approach, you may notice that we use language from multiple contemplative traditions. Some words may carry old associations or inherited ways of thinking.
If so, we simply invite you to listen beneath the words themselves, becoming curious about what they are pointing to and the spirit in which they are being spoken.
The Path Unfolds
Each conversation illuminates a movement in the unfolding of the contemplative life.
SESSION 1
The Calling
Something begins stirring.
SESSION 2
The Search
Looking everywhere for what we long for.
SESSION 3
Learning to Listen
Becoming available to presence.
SESSION 4
Sustenance
Discovering what truly nourishes.
SESSION 6
Living from Grace
Being moved by the Life within.
SESSION 5
Unknowing and Faith
Beyond the separate sense of self.
The contemplative journey is the gradual transformation of our way of seeing, knowing, and living, as the false sense of self loses its apparent authority and the Reality that has always been present becomes consciously realized and embodied in every dimension of life.
A Living Conversation
Although these conversations are pre-recorded, they remain part of an ongoing dialogue.
Questions naturally arise.
You’re always welcome to reach out by email as you move through the series.
If, at some point, you feel called to explore your own journey more personally, one-on-one contemplative conversations with James, Kayla, or both together are also available.
As Living Presence continues to grow, additional conversations, question-and-response recordings, guided meditations, and teachings will gradually be added to the Library, allowing this dialogue to continue unfolding over time.

A Different Way of Giving
We want The Path to remain available to anyone who feels genuinely drawn to it, regardless of financial circumstances. For that reason, there is no fixed price and no contribution is required to begin.
If you are able to support the creation and continuation of this work, you are warmly invited to offer whatever feels both honest and genuinely possible for you. Some may contribute before beginning. Others may return later, after these conversations have become a meaningful companion on their journey.
If You Are Wondering What to Give:
We recognize that an open invitation can leave people wondering what might be an appropriate contribution.
If a teaching series of this length and depth were offered through a traditional educational model, it would fall within a range of several hundred dollars. We share this only as a point of orientation—not as an expectation or measure of participation.
Some may only be able to offer a small contribution. Others may find themselves in a season when they can give more, helping make The Path available to those who cannot contribute financially.
We trust that what is needed will be provided through this shared movement of giving and receiving.
